Hi there! Thank you for taking a moment to meet me — Jeryse Kelly, Owner of MJK Events. For more than 10 years, my wedding and event planning business has proudly called Tempe, Arizona home.
Tempe isn’t just where I work — it’s where I grew up, learned, built a family, and found my community. I attended school here, completed community college in Mesa and completed a Clothing & Textiles Major with a Minor in Business at Arizona State University. I raised my children in Tempe, and even after a seven-year adventure out in Gilbert, I found my way right back to Tempe. There is something truly special about this city — from its festivals and parks to its diversity and creative energy.
While I may not technically be a “native,” moving to Arizona at two years old gives me just enough credibility to claim Tempe as my hometown. I was born in St. Louis, spent time in Moses Lake, Washington, and then planted roots here in Arizona — where my heart has remained ever since.
One of my favorite places in Tempe is the original Harkins Theater in downtown Tempe — yes, the one with the best popcorn. This historic location holds deep meaning for me because it represents honoring the past while continuing to evolve. The Harkins family began there in 1933, even living above the theater. Today, it still celebrates its story while embracing modern experiences — and that philosophy mirrors exactly how I serve my clients.

At MJK Events, I listen deeply. I learn your likes, dislikes, family traditions, and cultural influences. I help you design an experience — not just an event. Whether honoring long-standing traditions or creating modern alternatives, we work together to ensure your guests walk away with lasting impressions and meaningful memories.
My goal is always the same:
I want my clients and their families to be fully present — not stressed, not managing logistics — but truly enjoying their celebration as honored guests.
